What Factors Should You Pay Attention To? (yes it’s the same ones as google…)

Google’s got about 200 factors that influence it’s ranking algorithm. No one really knows what the exact factors are… it’s like the old KFC secret spices secret.

People can imitate, but never really get the exact formula.

But the good thing is, you don’t need the exact formula to start getting better ranking for your website.

Here’s a few basic ones that google has revealed that you should pay attention to for starters.

- keyword in the html title tag

-keyword in the html body copy

-keyword in bold typeface

-keyword in header tags

-keyword in anchor text links

-page rank of a page

-page rank of the entire domain

-the speed of the website

These are just 8 factors, some may argue the basic ones… but really they are the essential ones to get you started.

Now here’s the secret to really getting to page one.

It’s quiet simple actually.

Obviously the pages that are one page one already are doing everything the right way, just the way google likes it.

So why not analyse these 10 pages and see exactly what they are doing.

where are they putting their keyword, how often are they mentioning the keyword, how many links have they got going to their domains, which ways are they using the keyword.

These are all things you can analyse, and once you analyse the top 10 pages and model their formula on your website, it will greatly improve your rankings.

If you’ve got other strategies that you’ve used and are keen to share with the other readers go ahead, as this will make this blog more valuable for everyone.

First Steps To Consider Before You Start Small Business Website Marketing

Small business website marketing, is no different than offline business marketing.

You’ve got to know where you want to go… set yourself some goals and work towards them.

To start with, I guess, it all depends on budget.

Have you got the budget to set up an entire Internet marketing campaign (a well planned out Internet marketing plan could cost anywhere into the 10′s of thousands of dollars — considering the amount of traffic you’ll get when done right, this will be chump change…). But it needs to be considered.

If you just want to get a website out there for starters you need to make sure it’s structured right, and build on the right platform. This way when it comes to promote it, you’re working on a foundation that google and other search engines love and will start to rank you for, once you start promoting the site.

So here’s a few tips to help you decide if your platform is right at the moment or if you may need to make some changes in order to make it “GOOGLE FRIENDLY”!

1) Is your website content organised the way google would organise its content?

2) Have you got the ability to update your site on a daily-weekly basis? (without having to pay your webmaster money every time you want to do so…)

3) Does your website allow for social web 2.0 interactivity (yes, at the time of writing this post, google does take into consideration the interaction your website gets from people)

4) Have you decided on your keywords? are they keywords with commercial intent? are people actually searching for these keywords? are they competitive?

5) Is your site built on a domain name (eg.www.yourdomainname.com) which is preferably your main keyword, or has your keyword in it?

Takes these tips into consideration before going any further into investing into a website, because these are the first few steps that need to take place before the big marketing (which brings in the big dollars) can be effectively applied.

SIDE NOTE: take extra notice of the 5th tip… big give away there. Get a dead on keyword for your domain name and with the right marketing backing your site you’ll trump your competition.

Hope this few tips will help you to get your initial steps right when getting someone to build your website. Even if it is a site for around the $1000 mark, these elements should be included as a minimum — so you have the right foundation to roll out profitable campaigns in the future.
