How The New Google Is Going To Change The Internet Forever

Back in the wild west days of the Internet anyone who even knew a little bit about search engine optimisation (SEO) could game the google algorithm and get page 1 rankings.

All that was needed was a few spammy links and overstuffing of keywords on the page.

Well… those days are long gone!

The Internet has changed and with it Googles’ algorithm.

But what does this mean for business owners, entrepreneurs and marketers wanting to rank for their desired keywords?

Do the old skool link building techniques such as article marketing, blog commenting, forum posting, profile creation, social bookmarking, video marketing and podcast marketing still work?

Well… Yes and No!

They still work to an extend and still are all viable ranking strategies.

But google is evolving and with this evolution comes the new web — It’s web 2.0… And if you don’t get social, you’ll be left behind!

What this means for SEO is basically that if you don’t have anything constructive and interesting to say… you’re not going to all that many links!

Personally I think this will clean up the web from a lot of the “spammy” content, and genuine people with genuine products and services on offer who constructively contribute to online conversations are going to win.

That’s what the change in google for 2011 and beyond means. The web is getting more interactive. We’re going back to Business 101 – Relationship Building.

The money… or rather the links, which still to date is the major ranking factor in all search engines, will be in building relationships and socially interacting in the market place.

Everything in the evolution of Google’s algorithm has been pointing towards this.

The relevancy factor, the unique content factor and now the activity factor.

It has set the way up for instant search results and is making way for the new web.

So for business owners, entrepreneurs and marketers this means that no longer is throwing a few links out there going to be enough to rank. The true players that are going to succeed from this change will be the ones getting back in touch with their market, listening and joining in to their customers conversations and adding value… which is really what true customers service has always been about!

Google Is Powering Facebook Fan Page Marketing

I just read an article about Google and how it may be getting too big to manage it’s growth effectively.

A few key players from the Google camp have already been recruited by the face of Facebook – Mark Zuckerberg himself eg. Kate Vale, Lars Rasmussen to name a few.

We all know that Google will still be a key player in search engine marketing for small businesses… I personally don’t think that Facebook is going to take away anything from google there any time soon.

However, Facebook is generating a LOT of traffic!

And as these two companies become more and more competitive, as a small business owner you need to seriously consider tapping into this growing advertising medium called FACEBOOK!

So ask yourself have you got the basics.

Facebook Page
Facebook Fan Page
Facebook PPC

Then ask yourself… have you taken these mediums to the next level and turned them into a profitable marketing system for your business?

If used correctly facebook can give you a very profitable and low cost solution to generating leads, subscribers and customers.

I’m in the middle of working on video presentation how you can utilise facebook fan pages to create a powerful marketing tool.

YES the video will be free, and I’ll make it available very soon.

So stay tuned and I’ll let ya know very soon when I’ll release these videos.

Have a profitable day,

David

It’s Proven Again… Businesses need to optimise their websites for local searches

I’ve been saying it… preaching it… nearly shoving it down peoples throats for the past years!

And now Webvisible and the Nielsen Co. have backed me up again.

Local business CAN NOT neglect internet marketing at a local level!

Here’s the latest research from Webvisible and Nielsen Co:

-63 % of consumers and small business owners turn to the Internet first for information about local companies and…

- 82% use search engines to do so!

So again… probably for the thousandth (is that even a word??) time… people are no longer going to the Yellow Pages to find local products and services.

They are flocking to the Internet. And the beauty is they are adding local indicators to their keywords

Its Proven Again... Businesses need to optimise their websites for local searches

(the words they are typing into the search engines).

That means they are no longer typing in “chiropractor” people are using local indicators such as “chiropractor Brisbane Queensland”. (see example on the right)

And the beauty about these is that these words are not very competitive and you can easily reach page one of google when doing a little bit of focused small business search engine marketing.

On top… search engines like Google, Yahoo and Bing have quickly adapted to this trend and are now showing a map of the local results right at the top (even above the number 1 ranking websites) plus the maps of where to locate these businesses.

So what do you need to do?

Well here’s a few tips you can follow to make sure you’re profiting from this ever growing trend… and take advantage of low hanging fruit while their good for the taking.

1) Submit your business to the local listing in google place, yahoo local listings and bing local listing centre.

2) add your business to the top local business directories.

3) entice your best customers to leave positive reviews about your business on these sites to give your business credibitlity.

Lastly and most importantly make your listing a Direct Response Listing — this is pretty advance stuff. But you can actually have a voucher in your listing people can take advantage of and choose you over your competitor.

The first thing your prospects always ask will be “What’s In It For Me…” and this is an easy way to answer this question and get them to choose you over your competitors.

But this is just the start… imagine being able to dominate not just the local listings, but spot #1, #2, #3 or more on the first page of the search engines.

Well what you really need is to do some serious search engine optimisation… and yes this can be a learning costly and long learning curve… but the beauty is there’s lots of Internet marketers out there specialising in this field, who are more than happy to save you from spending 10′s of thousands of dollars with the big SEO firms… and get you mostly even better results.

So if you’re thinking about crushing your competition and dominating the search engines here’s a quick article which will give you 3 tips to hiring the right small business internet marketing consultant.

Let me know what you think about this ever growing trend for small business and any successes you may have already had by cutting in front of line and taking action early before the rest of the small business owners out there are playing catch up.

Google’s Instant Search

I’ve heard a lot of people say… “we’ve got to change everything again… google has changed it algorithm again…” “what a pain now we’re going to loose all our rankings again…”

Nothing could be further from the truth.

The only thing that changes with google instant search is the fact that it’s speeding up real time search and the kind of feedback it gives to users.

So the only thing you’ve got to worry about right now is that your site has a fast loading time, which google has made official a while ago, as being a ranking factors.

So I say just enjoy the fast speed, and extra suggestions when searching…

Agree… Disagree? Let me know what you think.
