How The New Google Is Going To Change The Internet Forever

Back in the wild west days of the Internet anyone who even knew a little bit about search engine optimisation (SEO) could game the google algorithm and get page 1 rankings.

All that was needed was a few spammy links and overstuffing of keywords on the page.

Well… those days are long gone!

The Internet has changed and with it Googles’ algorithm.

But what does this mean for business owners, entrepreneurs and marketers wanting to rank for their desired keywords?

Do the old skool link building techniques such as article marketing, blog commenting, forum posting, profile creation, social bookmarking, video marketing and podcast marketing still work?

Well… Yes and No!

They still work to an extend and still are all viable ranking strategies.

But google is evolving and with this evolution comes the new web — It’s web 2.0… And if you don’t get social, you’ll be left behind!

What this means for SEO is basically that if you don’t have anything constructive and interesting to say… you’re not going to all that many links!

Personally I think this will clean up the web from a lot of the “spammy” content, and genuine people with genuine products and services on offer who constructively contribute to online conversations are going to win.

That’s what the change in google for 2011 and beyond means. The web is getting more interactive. We’re going back to Business 101 – Relationship Building.

The money… or rather the links, which still to date is the major ranking factor in all search engines, will be in building relationships and socially interacting in the market place.

Everything in the evolution of Google’s algorithm has been pointing towards this.

The relevancy factor, the unique content factor and now the activity factor.

It has set the way up for instant search results and is making way for the new web.

So for business owners, entrepreneurs and marketers this means that no longer is throwing a few links out there going to be enough to rank. The true players that are going to succeed from this change will be the ones getting back in touch with their market, listening and joining in to their customers conversations and adding value… which is really what true customers service has always been about!

Mentor Carlton Hits The Nail On The Head

I just read a very important blog post by a mentor of mine John Carlton.Mentor Carlton Hits The Nail On The Head

He’s delved deep into the subject of street savvy marketing. And you can apply this same savvy to your Internet marketing campaigns and your online business.

The fact that I spend 4 years at Uni learning theories and countless text book examples of how business works didn’t really give me any street savvy knowledge on how to generate money.

It was only when I started to get obsesses with direct response advertising, marketing and mindset that I started to learn that you can generate money anytime you want… when you know how.

The key is this however… and this is where so many people get stuck.

Learn from street savvy entrepreneurs… and I don’t mean “facebook gurus” or the next shiny object people.

Learn from mentors that have a proven track record, that have proven their time in the trenches and know what you’re going through right now.

Names that come to mind are Dan Kennedy, Gary Halbert, John Carlton, Pete Godfrey, Mal Emery!

You won’t find these entrepreneurs publicly masturbating on social media sites like Facebook.

WHY?

Because they’re too busy applying the knowledge they’ve learned over the years to bring in the cash day in day out.

So here’s the main points that Carlton covered in his post, and I thought I would write them up here for you too. Because you can directly apply this to your online campaigns and well… to your general business. Lot of mindset stuff hidden in there…

1) Wake Up: he talks about critical thinking and learning from your mistakes. Be aware of opportunities around you and think how they can impact your business.

2) TAKE ACTION: big one most people forget… but this is really where the money is. Those letters that need to go out, that domain that needs to get registered, that email that needs to be written or links that have to be build in order for your website to show up in the rankings… it all starts with Action!

3) Read: Carlton encourages to keep reading, keep learning and keep sharpening your sword.

4) Apply the new knowledge you learn and fine tune your current promotions to gain maximum return on your investment.

5) Learn from someone that’s been there, and have a mentor look over your shoulder.

*you can access Carlton’s entire blog post here: John Carlton’s Blog Post

These 5 steps, when applied could really be a revolutionary change to your business and your promotions.

If you study any of the big names in marketing… in direct response marketing anyway, you’ll find they religiously practice the sequence mentioned above. To really last and be at the top your your game you have to.
It’s where the pretenders and self acclaimed gurus get set apart from the real players.

Little bit controversial this time…. I know. But I hope you get some gold from this.

Hope this has rattled some cages, agree disagree I don’t really care just let me know what you think below.

Ciao for Now,

Dave

What’s it gonna cost to make your business more profitable using Internet Marketing.

Well it all depends how you look at it…

Newspapers, Yellow Pages, TV and radio commercials have dominated the advertising space over the last centuries.

Some business owners don’t even blink an eye when spending $10K on a full page yellow page.

let alone anywhere from $1-10K on a one page ad in a newspaper that runs for 1 week (all depending on paper of course)

And unless you are savvy in direct response marketing, there is no way you would ever know if you got your moneys worth!

That is the difference in Internet marketing! Everything is measured and accounted for. So the cost of internet marketing is more of an investment as you’re able to see a measurable return.

For example, if you invest in a Pay Per Click campaign on google, you’ll know exactly how many people clicked to see your website, and you can measure how many people bought from that traffic. Therefore easily determining your Return on Investment.

And this is just 1 example… everything is measurable in this way on the Internet (and may I add, it’s very easy to set something like this up and manage it, unlike in the offline world)

This is the main reason traditional avenues such as the Yellow Pages are getting found out and are becoming an outdated advertising avenue.

Obviously when getting Internet Marketing done the right way it’s never going to be cheap, but the money you invest will be measurable and you will see the return on investment and most professional internet marketers will actually enable you to test drive some of their strategies for free before putting a dime on the table.
